PHYSICAL AILMENTS AND BLACK MAGIC

Assalam oalaikum,

Most of us have a long, never-ending wish list and a long life finds its way almost at the top of the list. We commonly find so many people praying to Allah (swt) for a long life. We know for sure that a long and smoothly-sailing life is possible only if we are blessed with radiant health. This is why people are increasingly becoming health-conscious and they do not compromise on the quality of products they consume.

Keeping diseases at bay through a healthy lifestyle has become almost everyone’s top priority in the modern society. Diet plans, nutrition counseling, hiring personal trainers, exercising, colon irrigation therapies; eating healthy and organically grown food etc are the some of the ways through which people try to avoid diseases and lead a healthy life. Over the years, awareness about health and nutrition has increased manifolds and the demand for nutritionists and dieticians is growing.

Suppose if we were to ask any health freak to pinpoint the causes of diseases then he would know most of them on the tip of his fingers. After all, even the kids who are still in school are aware of the health hazards due to environmental pollution, unhygienic living conditions, unsafe drinking water, smoking etc. This is hardly surprising since we live in the Information age where information can be easily accessed and exchanged.

Despite this so-called health boom reaching an all-time high, it is time for us to stop and ponder whether the health information which we have today is sufficient for us or not? Nowadays, holistic healing is being given preference over alternative medicines due to its all-encompassing approach. However, we seriously need to ask ourselves this question that “Is the information which we have regarding the origin of diseases an all-encompassing one as well”?

Hypothetically speaking, if a thief knows how to break into your house through both the main door and also the through the windows but you presume that he can barge into your house only through the main entrance then what will happen? Obviously, you will protect your main door with magic eye holes, safety chains, strong latches and what not but leave the windows unsafe.

Therefore, we need to understand about the origin of diseases in a comprehensive way so that we leave no stone unturned for being in the pink of health and for being blessed with a long life, which is a boon in itself.

Apart from the environmental, genetic, lifestyle and other physical factors which lead to diseases, the paranormal factor looms large in today’s society, especially due to rise in the western materialism, intolerance towards other people’s happiness and success, greed, envy; malice and jealousy.
Further in this blog, I shall discuss this paranormal factor which is related to the onset of diseases- in the light of Islam. Until and unless we are not able to comprehend the close link between the paranormal and the physical ailments, we will not be able to protect ourselves from diseases-completely.

THE ORIGIN OF DISEASES

Assalam oalaikum,

If bacteria, virus and other micro-organisms are the only factors which come to our mind when we think of diseases, then it is high time we did some reconsideration. If we consider the physical factors as being the only cause behind the various diseases and if we try to protect ourselves only from them then we may be putting ourselves in a risky situation. If we look at this point from an Islamic perspective then the revelations may startle us. After all Islam has thrown light on this matter in a comprehensive way. Apart from all the physical factors responsible for making people sick Islam also shows that spiritual entities, such as jinnat are equally responsible for afflicting us with a multitude of physical problems.

It is a matter of common knowledge that Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) had been afflicted with black magic by Lubaid bin al-A’sam, who was a magician belonging to the tribe of Bani Zuraiq- an ally of the Jews. At this point of time, Allah (swt) revealed Surah Falaq and Surah Naas, the last two verses of the Holy Quran. These two supplications are specially meant to protect us from the ill-effects of black magic and envy.  According to a hadith which is related to the incident about Prophet Mohammad (pbuh)’s black magic affliction: a comb, a wax image with needles pricked into it, hair strands and a chord with eleven knots on it had been found. As Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) repeated Surah Falaq and Surah Naas, (which were revealed to him at that time by Hazrat Gibriel (pbuh), miraculously the knots started loosening one by one and the needles started coming out too. Soon after, Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) was completely free from the charm. This incidence clearly shows that Surah Falaq and Surah Naas, collectively known as Al-Mu’awwidhatayn, are supplications through which we can seek Allah (swt)’s refuge from the evils of black magic, Satanic whispers and envy.

Now in order to demonstrate the inextricable link between diseases and black magic, I may need to mention another authentic hadith.

Iman Malik recorded from Hazrat Ayesha (ra) that whenever the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) was suffering from an ailment, he would recite the Mu’awwidhatayn and blow over himself. Then if his pain was severe then Hazrat Ayesha said that she would recite the Mu’awwidhatayn over him and take his hand and wipe it over him, seeking the blessing of those Surahs (Al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud).

Since the Mu’awwidhatayn had been specially revealed by Allah (swt) as a cure of black magic, therefore, the above mentioned hadith brings out the link between black magic and diseases. Recitation of Mu’awwidhatayn by the Holy prophet (pbuh) at the time of his illness shows that illnesses can be brought about by the evil jinnat also.

THE MECHANISM BEHIND JINNAT INDUCED DISEASES

Assalam oalaikum,

So far we have seen that the Islamic scriptures have thrown ample light on the fact that jinnat can cause diseases amongst human beings. Now the question which may pop up is that how can it possible for the jinnat, who belong to a spiritual realm, to afflict a human being with a disease? Do they manage to accomplish their evil plans externally/remotely or internally? If they do it internally then how do they manage to creep into a human body? Or is there any truth at all behind this seemingly implausible concept of the jinnat prowling inside a human body? Since the jinnat are made up of fire whereas the human beings have been created from clay so how can the former dwell in the later?  Let us try to solve these mysteries with the help of Islamic scriptures.

If we look at this topic from the Islamic perspective then we find that there are a three different ways in which the jinnat can afflict us with some of the most dreadful diseases.

·         The first method involves hypnotism in which the victim’s mind is controlled through Waswasas or whisperings. In this type of spiritual warfare technique, the victim is compelled into believing things which are illusionary. If the victim begins to entertain those false ideas or acts upon them then he loses control over his own mind. In the subsequent posts, I shall explain in an in-depth way how this technique of waswasas is used by the jinnat to bring about diseases.

·         The second warfare tactic employed by the gruesome black magic jinnat is by sneaking in the victim’s body to wreck havoc inside. Though this sounds appalling and hard to believe, at first, yet it is a fact which is backed up by ample evidence. According to a hadith, when Hamna bint Jahsh asked Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) about his opinion regarding the menstruation beyond its normal period, he said, ‘Such bleeding is but one of Shaitan’s stomping”. (At-Tirmidhi).According to another hadith, the bleeding ‘is a result of Shaitan’s stomping on a vein rather than from a normal menses’. (Imam Ahmad an An-Nasai). The type of black magic which is under discussion in this hadith is done on females only. Its motive is to cause agony to the female victim by making her bleed profusely after her normal menstruation period. Sometimes the bleeding becomes almost incessant and anyone can imagine the medical aftermath of this situation- especially if the black magic spell is not broken. This is an example of the back magic in which the jinnat carry out the orders of the black magician by entering inside the female victim’s body and stomping a known vein in order to make her bleed, causing anemia. Besides this, there are several other techniques by which the jinnat can creep into the victim’s body and cause physical agony. As far as the concept of jinnat entering the human body is concerned, there is another hadith which validates it. Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) said, ‘Shaitan circulates in man’s body like blood’. (Al-Bukhari, Fath-al Bari: 4/282). This intrusion of jinnat in the body of their victim also causes friction which in turn leads to itchiness beneath the skin. This itchiness beneath the skin is one of the many signs of black magic activity and therefore, it has no plausible medical explanations.
·         The third method which also makes the victim quite vulnerable to a direct jinnat assault on his health- is through intake of food laced with black magic. This type of food is consumed unsuspectingly by the victim. If the victim is naïve and has no idea about the intentions of his enemy then this technique proves to be an easy, quick and effective way in which the black magician can succeed in his evil plan. Through this method the jinnat gets a vent through which he easily enters the victim’s body.

WAYS IN WHICH DISEASES ARE INFLICTED UPON THE VICTIMS

Assalam oalaikum,

In this post, I shall be carrying forth the discussion started in the previous one, where I had explored the mechanisms through which jinnat can cause diseases. We have seen so far that the jinnat can enter into the victim’s body either directly or indirectly- as it happens in the case of black magic laced food. Besides these two ways, there is also a third way of whisperings by the devil which some naïve people start believing in and go astray.

Before I explain any further how the jinnat manage to make people suffer through physical ailments, I would first like to divide this matter into two sections:
·         First of all, we need to understand the tactics of those black magicians, in particular, whose motive is to cause physical pain to the victim. In their bid to do so, they can make the victim suffer from problems such as paralysis, blindness etc. The motive is to inflict the victim with pain, anguish; humiliation and to make life difficult for the victim.
·         Secondly, there are those cases where the black magician and his jinnat make persistent attempts to kill the victim. The kind of black magic which is done for killing a victim can also cause diseases such as cancer or some other life- threatening diseases. Even if the outcome of this type of magic causes a so-called ‘curable’ disease, yet it has been seen that repeated black magic assaults deteriorates the condition of the victim, creates major health complications and baffles the doctors. Sooner or later, even a curable disease aggravates and becomes fatal. When the magic is meant to kill the victim, every trick in the book is used to achieve the target. The situation is somewhat similar to the case of contract killings in which once the payment is made to the goons, the party wants the victim to be killed, at any cost. No chances are to be taken and no stone is to be left unturned in such contract killings. Since big money is involved in these killings so the goons who are hired for killing the victim have to deliver the goods, by hook or by crook. Likewise, the tantriks also charge exorbitant sums for killing the victim. In fact, their charges increase in direct proportion with the severity of the crime they commit. The harsher the crime they are hired to commit through black magic- the more do they charge. So when an enemy hires the tantriks to kill the victim then they are expected to literally pay through their nose. In such a case it becomes mandatory for the tantrik to deliver the goods and to see to it that the victim gets killed with the help of his hoodlums –the jinnat. Therefore, in such cases the victim can be assaulted mentally, through planted thoughts which can either be commanding in nature or else they can be petrifying ones. If the victim starts taking them to be true, then it is just a matter of time before he or she turns into a bundle of nerves. Controlling such a mental wreck is obviously a piece of cake for the black magician as compared to a person who is in the right frame of mind. Besides, such mental assaults, black magic laced food can also be offered to the victim cunningly. Lastly, he or she can also be directly assaulted by the jinnat. This is what usually happens in case of the deadly black magic known as Muth/handi

To sum up the discussion so far, the jinnat can either cause-
·         Temporary or chronic diseases to the victim
·         Kill him through repeated assaults.

So the diseases caused by the jinnat depend entirely on the callousness or the degree of vindictiveness of the enemy. The enemy may either want the victim to be afflicted by a disease or else he may want the victim to be killed. Unfortunately, in a world which, by and large, considers science to be synonymous with rationality and the supernatural synonymous with superstitions- many cases of such black magic induced killings are considered to be merely ‘medical cases’ which went wrong!
